Emmy's First Pair of Tennis Shoes

So, as you may have noticed in the previous post, we have quite an obsession with polka dot mary janes at our house. When it comes down to it, though, these aren't the most practical shoes for a wild toddler girl. She is all over the place running and climbing. We go to the park a lot and the mulch and equipment aren't a good match for those pricey little shoes.... enter.... TENNIS SHOES!

I put off buying tennis shoes for Emmy for a while, but finally decided we could not keep messing up her "nice" shoes. I wanted her to have some "cool" shoes, but also some play tennis shoes that would look cute with her nicer outfits.

We made the trek over to Friendly Center last week and hit up the Stride Rite store. They had the plain white Keds that I wanted, but not in her size. Oh well! We popped in next door at the Rack Room Shoes which was doing buy one, get one half off and low and behold, they had the white keds (but of course, not in her size) Luckily, I found a pair of gray and pink New Balance shoes for her and then they were able to order the Keds and have them shipped to the house.

I had to put the tennis shoes on her right away. They are super cute and not too bulky or tacky. They are gray so they are neutral, but have a little pink on them to make them more "girly". Her Dad made me promise that if she was going to have to wear plain white leather tennis shoes, that she also get some that would give her a good amount of "street cred". He was excited for these, but I won't be shocked if she ends up with some Nike Air Jordan's at some point... Also, pretty much everything Emmy talks about is "Dada's"... She prefaces everything she shows me around the house with his name. So, of course, she reached down when we got home, touched her shoes and proclaimed "Dada's Shoes". (Dada's choos) It was so sweet, as Emmy loves to carry his big ol' tennis shoes around the house and now she has her very own!

Hard to get her to slow down for a picture at all these days
Tennis shoes, dress, and bow. Love!

 "Cheese" face :)
A rare moment of stillness from my sweet girl
